Research Interests
I am interested in molecular interactions between plants and fungal plant pathogens, particularly in how effectors mediate interactions with the host-associated microbiome.
For my master’s thesis, I focused on the plant side of host-pathogen interactions and worked with virus-induced gene silencing to study gene function in plants.
In my PhD project in the Environmental Genomics group, I will study the interaction between barley and the fungal pathogens Zymoseptoria passerinii and Pyrenophora teres teres, focusing on effectors and their interaction with the host phyllosphere microbiota. I aim to characterize the functional diversity of these effectors, with a particular focus on different pathogens infecting the same host.
