Research Interests
I developed a deep curiosity for fungi and their genomes. I am particularly interested in deciphering how fungal populations evolve on short- and long-term scales, with a focus on plant pathogenic fungi. Likewise, fungal immune mechanisms and the associated host-pathogen coevolution processes have been central to my research in the past years. During my PhD, I worked on identifying and describing Nod-Like Receptors in the Sordariales order. In Prof. Eva Stukenbrock’s group, I am now using a population genomics approach to determine the main factors underlying speciation and diversification within the plant-pathogenic genus Zymoseptoria. In particular, we aim to characterize when and how speciation events occurred within the Zymoseptoria triticii species complex and what are the levels of incomplete lineage sorting and introgressions between the different species.
